Pottery Class Status, And More
posted by Rich @ 11:16 AM
I know all of you want to hear about this, so I thought I'd write a bit about it.

I've had two pottery classes, and I've gotten to the point where centering the clay is easy.  I said that out loud last night and several people gave me angry stares.

We began to practice the pulling technique, to make simple cylinders, and I'm doing OK with that, but need to work on it some more.  That was a little harder than I thought it would be, but I'll get it at the next lesson.

I have nothing new regarding the status of the podcast.  John and I haven't discussed it in a bit, but hopefully it's coming soon.

Color Me Excited
posted by Rich @ 3:13 PM
OK, I know some of you aren't going to be excited about this, but I'm about to start doing something I've wanted to do since grade school, and no, I'm not talking about dipping Cheryl Migliacio's pigtails in the ink-wells.  I'm going to start taking Pottery classes.

I suppose a lot of you are wondering why a high-tech guy like me would be interested in pottery.  I think it's precisely because it IS low-tech.  All you need is clay, and heat, and voila, you have a vessel that you can cook with, eat, or drink out of.  Despite the fact that it is low-tech, people still love the stuff.  I can't wait to start making it.  I've always been good with my hands, and I learn fast, so this should be a great experience.

And while we're on the topic of new things, just for the hell of it, I downloaded and installed Google Chrome on my windows box, and composed this post with it.

Our Humblest Apologies
posted by Rich @ 8:24 PM
Hello faithful listeners.  I know we haven't done as well as we could have keeping you updated as to what is going on with the Podcast, and with us.  For that we offer our humblest apologies.

John and I are still working on that little art project, and we do have some things in our lives right now that are complicating things.  We have had some discussions, and we both feel that it is the time to produce some more shows, and we have every intention of doing so.

We also got a very cool email the other day from a listener in Australia.  That lifted our spirits and reconfirmed our belief in the show.  The letter was so cool in fact that I thought I'd share it with you:

Hi guys,

I'd put me down as a satisfied listener. I've been listening to you now for over two years. I live in Alice Springs in the centre of Australia and work out on remote solar power stations my company have built out here. I go out on my own for three weeks at a time and operate and maintain them. I usually listen to your podcast while driving to or from the sites or while working at them and I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of them. Keep doing what you're doing because it's entertaining and that's what you guys I think want to do. If there is one thing I'd ask though is could you keep the clinking of the wine glasses down or warn us. I was 17 metres up in a cherry picker once cleaning the dishes and listening to your show and then I heard this strange clinking and I thought the cherry picker was about to collapse or something  :)

Once again thanks for keeping a smile on my face in the middle of nowhere.

Regards...
