More Good News/Bad News

posted by Rich @ 12:00 AM

Yes, the bad news is that because of a nasty flu bug, John and I were not able to get together to record this weekend.

Remember the Kraken that was sitting on John's chest while we taped our last show?  Well a pretty similar looking Kraken (they may have been related) decided to start sitting on my chest, on Monday.  By Tuesday I was delirious.  Now it's just a really nasty cold, but bad enough to keep us from recording.

The good news is that John promised to do a special show for the ladies in the near future while wearing his new Salmon Speedo.  (I might "mysteriously" get the flu for THAT episode... we'll see!)

See you soon!

Don Ho dead at 76
posted by John @ 2:04 PM

Don Ho, famous for singing Tiny Bubbles, has passed.

I know there's a joke in there somewhere, especially with the recent Don Imus hubub and the word 'ho' being uttered, but I don't have the heart to try it.

I still have fond memories of Don Ho showing up everywhere in 70s sit-coms.

Kurt Vonnegut dead at 84
posted by John @ 7:59 AM

No doubt you'll be reading this elsewhere, but I thought it worth mentioning.  Novelist and rabbelrouser Kurt Vonnegut died.

While I was in school, Vonnegut did a speaking engagement at Syracuse University.  He was one of those speakers that could deviate from his notes and go on a tear.  You could tell that he truly felt what he said, and wasn't just there for the money.  He made us all laugh and think at the same time.

Another Answer to John's Music Question
posted by Rich @ 8:49 PM

Some time ago John asked if there was a song that always cheered me up.  He once also asked about songs or things that were guilty pleasures.  I think this answer satisfies both questions.

The song is Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.  The original 1986 version.  I think it's truly a beautiful piece of music.
