Hi Kids.
We are sorry to report that there will not be an episode of BV this week for your listening torment. If you have been reading the blog you will remember that John somehow angered Mother Nature, and had some pipe-freezing/bursting issues in his home. As I am sure you can understand, The Fairfield Glassworks and Tape Dispensary, Studio B, is not quite ready for prime time.
Now that I think about it, Mother Nature must have an issue with John, because this is not the first time that the The Fairfield Glassworks and Tape Dispensary has been under water. As you can clearly see, there is a trend forming here.
While Mother Nature might be at the root of these problems, there is a chance that it might not be her at all. Perhaps this is the work of Poseidon or Neptune, who are in fact not angry with John in the least. They might simply have some recurring anger issues due to their decrease in popularity these past two thousand years, and have made John an innocent victim.
Whichever the case, we will see you next week, come hell or high water (drum shot!).
Far be it from Apple CEO and Chief Turtlenecker, Steve Jobs to avoid any opportunity to increase market share. But, in this long-overdue statement he proves that profit and doing the right thing occasionally share the same space/time. In a nutshell, he states the obvious -- DRM does nothing to prevent music piracy, and has proven to be an expensive boondoggle.
I'm goin in alone, and trying out new gear on this, show 81:
Owning a home has some wonderful advantages. I know much of it is an illusion, but it is nice to know I have a little sanctuary carved out in the world. Last night, that illusion was shattered. I arrived at home, looking forward to a nice weekend of sloth, when my wife met me at the door with, "we have a problem". Not good. Not cool. Not the way I want to start a Friday night.
Little did we know, our house came with an indoor swimming pool.
While the family was at work and school, a pipe froze and broke. Central New York is currently in the middle of doing its winter thing, which is to say freeze and dump snow, and this old house gave in. Our entire basement flooded. We were able to shut down the section of pipe that broke, and get some sleep, but not until we cleaned out our entire laundry room (soaked clothes - yay) and the finished living room that doubles as the BV sound studio.
The damage restoration crew is here right now, and they think it'll be all dry in a few days, but it may cause some changes in where/how/if we record the next show.
