I'd like to thank Leo over at the Neural Gourmet for picking John and me for this book meme, so here are my answers.
A book that changed your life:
The Encyclopedia Brown series by Donald J. Sobal. No it's not just one book, it's a series about a character kinda like the Hardy Boys is, but I chose it because it really has only one character. These books helped me learn to think logically, clearly, and concisely.
A book you have read more than once:
Rocket Boys/October Sky by Homer Hickam. This is a great story about growing up in a West Virginia coal mining town, and dreaming big (or at all). What's fantastic is that he dreamt big, and did big things, and it's a true story.
A book you would want on a desert island:
The collected works of William Shakespeare. That would give me something to do for some time.
A book that made you laugh:
Getting Even by Woody Allen.
A book that made you cry:
I got nuthin. I honestly couldn't think of one. I can name a dozen films, but not one book. I guess I need to read more.
A Book you wish you had written:
When I first read this that is what I saw. Looking back, the questions was supposed to be "One book you wish HAD BEEN written. But I'm going to answer the question as I saw it.
A Man On The Moon by Andrew Chaikin. Doing the research for this encyclopedic tome must have been hard work, and a lot of fun.
A book you wish hadn't been written:
This is an easy one for me, and no I didn't look at other people's answers before choosing my own. It just seems like there are a lot of people who thought of this one instantly:
The Bible.
And I could easily extend this to any written works found on an old piece of paper written long ago, and believed to be the words of god. These texts are too easily misinterpreted (either by accident or on purpose) so if they simply didn't exist, maybe we'd have fewer problems.
A book you are currently reading:
I'm not currently reading anything.
A book you've been meaning to read:
The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald, and On The Road by Kerouac.
I can't think of anyone to nominate because the guy who nominated me, stole the person I typically nominate for these things. If I think of anyone, I'll post it.
