We Got Reviewed!
posted by Rich @ 9:03 PM

One of our listeners, fans, and critics (all rolled into one) wrote a very nice review of our Podcast today on her blog, check it out.

And in a completely shameless act of self promotion, the same person had some additional kind words to say about us (well, ME actually).

SHOCKED and APPALLED
posted by Rich @ 8:40 PM

I just learned that in the original edit of the stop-motion Rudolph Xmas special from 1964, Santa did NOT stop at the Island of Misfit Toys to pick them up.  How wrong is THAT?!  Apparently public outcry made them animate the new scene with Santa rescuing them.  Phew.

Howard Tuttleman, I Salute You!
posted by John @ 6:44 PM

If there's one thing I learned while rebuilding this blog, it's this: building a blog takes some work. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. You're saying to yourself, "gee, John, that's all...phil-o-sophical, dude". Well, you're right. So, when a friend forwarded some musings of Howard Tuttleman to me, I realized that this guy is a genius.

Not only does he get to write his own blog, but he gets Amazon.com to host, manage, and promote it. You're probably saying to yourself, "Who's Howard Tuttleman? What's John talking about? I wonder what I'll have for lunch today..." I can't help you with lunch, but here's the skinny on HT. He appears to be a guy making an artform out of Amazon.com product reviews.

Some of my favorites include his experiment in living a review of A Clockwork Orange, and his interpretation of Nick Drake's Pink Moon. To read some of these brilliant essays, go HERE.

A Few Thoughts
posted by Rich @ 7:08 PM

OK, I have a few quick thoughts about the whole new deal, here.

First, I want to thank John for all of the amazing work he did getting our new Movable Type Blog engine up and running. He put in 30 or 40 hours of personal time, last week, to make this happen. It looks amazing already and it's only going to get better.

For those who have noticed, we saved all of the old articles and comments from the old blog, and have preserved them here. The articles went in nicely, but we chose to save the user comments by simply cutting and pasting them into a new comment from a user named "User Comments." So under many old articles, you will see that it says "1 Comment" from a user named "User Comments", and it will often contain more than one old comment.

To avoid comment Spam we have set up the system so that all comments have to be approved by John or me, before they're actually published on the blog. If your comment doesn't post immediately, that's why. Not to worry, John and I check the blog throughout the day, and the delay between when you post the comment, and when John or I actually publish it, won't be that great.

Enjoy and Wassail.

Winter Blues
posted by Rich @ 3:31 PM

Wow. Winter hit central New York pretty hard yesterday and today. Lake-effect snow bombarded us for twenty four (or so) hours, and we ended up with 12 or 14 inches of accumulation, and many areas had more. Fortunately it ended today in the early afternoon, and public works were able to clear the roads and make them quite passable. So as it stands, there will be no interruption in the BV program schedule, but that doesn't mean mother nature won't do this again on a future recording day.

Wassail.
