Bob Denver died at the age of 70, Friday September 2nd in North Carolina from complications surrounding his cancer treatment.

Most people remember him from his portrayal of Gilligan, the zany first officer and shipwrecked island resident from the 1960's TV show GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, but I preferred his Maynard G. Krebs character from DOBIE GILLIS. Maynard was a Beatnick who really dug jazz.
