James "Scotty" Doohan died today at 5:30 AM in Redmond Washington, he was 85. Doohan was most commonly known as the miracle-working chief engineer "Montgomery Scott" from the original Star Trek television series which ran in the late 1960's. A fan favorite to the end, he will be missed.

I suppose it's only appropriate that a legendary Sci-Fi hero die on this day, since it is July 20th, the very same day on which Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed, and walked on the moon in 1969.
